The Home Edit’s Top Reselling Tips

To start, evaluate your edit for the type of items you’re looking to rehome, their condition, and their style. This will help you choose which online platform would be best to post them on. Our favorites include:

Once you’ve made this decision, it’s time to get your items posted online and once purchased, shipped off to their new home. Nothing feels better than a freshly edit space!

Top tips for selling

1. Take advantage of photography and showcase your item!

The better it looks, the better chance it has to sell. Place in good lighting with a clean background to help make the photo pop.

Don't be afraid to break out the tripod and light here, y'all. It could make all the difference.

2. Prepare to get detailed!

Including an accurate description (measurements, color and fit descriptions, condition) of what you’re selling helps the perfect shopper find it!

3. Organize a “shipping station”!

In one spot, include everything you need to process and ship orders promptly. This includes a label printer, tripod and light, plus shipping bags/packaging.

This is also a great time to take stock of your other office supplies, and purge anything you don't need.

4. Designate a day to check on your orders each week!

To keep the process from becoming too consuming, designate a specific day or time to check in on your online orders and respond to comments, emails, or bids around them.

We understand you're juggling various life activities—like even a full-time job— but consider that this can help offset some of the moving costs and prevent bringing unwanted items into your new home. It'll be worth it!!

You’ve got your edited pile, you’ve got your shipping station, and now, it’s time to get things out the door! Happy selling!
